My work revolves around my fascination with the idea of action and reaction throughout the natural environment. I see my work as a visual investigation of these natural forces. The way a mountain slowly weathers over time or the way water erodes a stream bed , creating a sense of construction and deconstruction, which inform my ceramic sculpture and the way I approach process.
My pieces are metaphorical landscapes . I create these clay pieces by physically acting upon them by pushing, pulling and tearing the material, exploiting the responsiveness of the clay. This process allows me to have a physically direct dialogue with the material.
